The Viral Snuff Movie Review That Was Never Meant to Be
by David L. Tamarin

Joe X’s “Richard Speck Murders Re-Enacted” is the Citizen Kane of snuff films, so I had high expectations for his newest feature, “IRS Agent in Basement.” He did not let me down, and “IRS Agent” is a classic. The IRS Agent in the title is a fairly unattractive middle aged woman with graying hair and an ugly mole on her cheek. One of the film’s many highlights was seeing a machete make the mole (and most of her face) disappear. That part of the film was very interesting, as I did not know such a large quantity of blood could come out of one’s face.
This was but one of many surprises in this wonderful yet hard to find snuff flick. The lighting is excellent, Joe X clearly has training and experience, and though the quality of the film is weak, we are able to see rich shades of red when the IRS Agent is dissected before the camera. There is no sound at all in this film, which is its one weak point and the reason I am giving this a 9 not a 10 out of 10 on the Snuff Scale.
The initial rape by dogs sequence is brutal and a great way to start a film and captivate the viewer. As readers of this column know, I am a machete freak so of course I was delighted that a machete was the instrument of death. Other instruments used in the torture sequence include hammers, boiling water, superglue, duct tape, broken glass, a tarantula, and a few others that I will not describe so as not to give away the film to the reader.
The surprise ending was what made this a classic and lifted it out of the category of a standard snuff flick. Again, I won’t ruin the surprise but let’s just say the IRS Lady’s mother makes a cameo that is almost too painful to watch.
For those of you who are squeamish or tend to experience nausea, I would advise you to stop watching the film after she dies, because the atrocities committed against her corpse are absolutely vile. Also, if you are watching this with your family you may not want the kids to see this last part either. Viewers will have to judge for themselves whether the film-maker went too far in the final post-mortem sequence. Nonetheless, it is an absolutely compelling film, snuff at its best. Joe X has delivered another classic with “IRS Agent in Basement” and I highly recommend it. Rating: A 9 out of a possible

The Story of SNUFF MOVIE REVIEW
By David L Tamarin
I write horror and crime fiction, and I write experimental fiction. About twenty years ago I wrote a very short story called SNUFF MOVIE REVIEW. The ‘story’ was a fake review of a non-existent snuff movie. This was years ago, when the biggest social media site was LiveJournal. I posted my story on LiveJournal, never ever expecting the reaction I got. My inbox was soon filled with people who wanted to see and buy the fictional snuff movie I described in the story. I was shocked, there were so many people who wanted to pay to see a real snuff film. I took down my post.
A few years later MySpace was huge and I posted SNUFF MOVIE REVIEW on MySpace. I got the exact same reaction. Message after message of people wanting to know where to buy the snuff movie I had written about. I should add that the death I wrote about was extremely graphic and involved extensive torture. I never thought people would read it and then decide they had to see it for themselves. So I posted an apology, saying SNUFF MOVIE REVIEW was fiction and I was sorry if I had inadvertently fooled anyone. People were mad – and disappointed.
I ended up publishing a short story book called THIS BOOK HATES YOU 2.0 and you can read SNUFF MOVIE REVIEW in the book, along with about 30 more depraved stories.
If you are curious, the story is being posted here, on Ginger Nuts of Horror. I hope readers can appreciate the story and not get too distraught that it is pure fiction and that no, I cannot hook you up with snuff movies, no matter how much money you offer me! Sorry, but I’ve never seen a snuff movie, let alone review one; I just thought it was an interesting and fun idea and social experiment. I have written many short stories, and SNUFF MOVIE REVIEW seems to be my post popular story. So who knows what will come next!
