Horror Review Submissions
Ginger Nuts of Horror accepts review requests for horror books, films, comics, graphic novels and other horror-related releases.
Our reviewers cover everything from independent horror and major publishing releases to folk horror, gothic fiction, supernatural horror, psychological horror, body horror, dark fantasy, young adult horror, weird fiction and the many strange places where genres collide.
We receive far more review requests than we can cover, so submitting a book, film or other product does not guarantee a review.
Our review team works around jobs, families and other commitments. We therefore select the projects that most interest individual reviewers and that are the best fit for Ginger Nuts of Horror.

How to Submit a Horror Book for Review
If you would like to submit a horror novel, novella, short-story collection, anthology, comic or graphic novel for consideration, email:

Please include:

- Author
- Publisher or imprint
- Publication date
- Number of pages
- Format available for review
- A short synopsis or back-cover description
- Relevant content or trigger warnings

Please do not post physical books or send complete review copies until they have been requested. We cannot guarantee coverage and do not want authors or publishers wasting money sending books that have not yet been accepted.
Independent and self-published horror is welcome alongside traditionally published work.
Horror Film Review Submissions
We also consider horror films, short films and other screen-based horror projects for review.
When submitting a film, please include the title, director, production company or distributor, release date, running time, synopsis, trailer or official website where available, and information about how a reviewer can access the film.
Please also tell us whether the film is already available to the public, playing at a festival, awaiting distribution or under an embargo.
AI-Assisted Books and Cover Art
Ginger Nuts of Horror does not accept AI-assisted books for review.
We also do not accept review submissions using AI-assisted or AI-generated book cover artwork.
Please take this into account before submitting your work.
What Happens After I Submit a Review Request?
Your submission will be considered for the Ginger Nuts of Horror review team.
Because we receive a large number of requests, we cannot promise that every submission will be selected. Acceptance of a review copy also does not create an obligation for a reviewer to publish coverage.
Reviews remain independent editorial content.
The best way to improve your chances of finding the right reviewer is simply to give us clear, accurate information about the work and make it easy for the team to understand what sort of horror it is.

Horror Author Interviews, Filmmaker Interviews and Guest Features
A review is not the only way to introduce horror fans to your work.
Ginger Nuts of Horror also publishes horror author interviews, filmmaker interviews, guest articles, personal essays, genre features and creator spotlights.
These features give creators room to talk about their work, influences, experiences and relationship with horror in considerably more depth than a traditional promotional announcement.
We have several established feature formats, but we are also interested in original ideas that do not fit neatly into an existing series.

Instead of asking you to describe your new release for the hundredth time, we put you into a series of fictional horror situations and find out how long you would last.

No. Ginger Nuts of Horror does not charge authors, publishers, filmmakers or creators for editorial reviews, interviews or guest features.
Does submitting my horror book guarantee a review?
No. We receive more submissions than our review team can cover, so every request is considered but coverage cannot be guaranteed.
Can I send a physical book for review?
Please do not send physical review copies unless this has been arranged in advance. Contact us first so we can determine whether a member of the team is interested.
Do you review independent and self-published horror?
Independent horror is an important part of the genre, and independent creators are welcome to submit work for consideration alongside traditionally published and distributed releases.
Do you accept AI-assisted books for review?
No. Ginger Nuts of Horror does not accept AI-assisted books for review. We also do not accept submissions using AI-assisted or AI-generated book covers.
Can I appear on Ginger Nuts of Horror without getting a review?
Yes. Reviews are only one part of what we publish. Horror creators can also submit news, interviews, guest features and pitches for original articles.
