If you love dark fiction, get ready to mark your calendars. The Indie Horror Chapter has announced Chapter 4: Liverpool Horror Book Convention, taking over The Liner in Liverpool on 11 April 2026. Following the massive success of their sold-out events in Birmingham, Canterbury, and Weston-super-Mare, the UK’s premier touring indie horror book fair is finally heading North.

This one-day experience brings together over 50 authors from across the UK and Europe, headlined by the living legend of British horror, Ramsey Campbell. A Liverpool native, Campbell’s return is a highlight of the event, which includes an exclusive live interview, author readings, and convention-only exclusive items. True to the Indie Horror Chapter’s ethos, this isn’t just a book fair. It’s a full-day community celebration where “being an anxious mess is totally acceptable,” and everyone is welcome at the table.

Readers of horror and dark fiction, get ready – the Chapter 4: Liverpool Horror Book Convention will take place at The Liner, Liverpool on 11 April 2026.  This free-to-attend event involves over 50 authors from the UK and Europe, including the living legend of British horror, Ramsey Campbell.

Organised by the Indie Horror Chapter, these events are more than just book fairs they are a full day experience. Readers can meet and chat with authors but also enjoy a host of other activities including author readings, an exclusive live interview with Ramsey Campbell, event exclusive items and so much more.

Chapter 4: Liverpool Horror Book Con follows on from three hugely successful events – Chapter 1: Birmingham Book Con held in August 2024, Chapter 2: Canterbury Horror Tales held in March 2025 and Chapter 3: Weston Horror Book Con held in September 2025.

By public demand from the voracious horror readers in the South-West of England,Chapter 3: Weston Horror Book Con took over the iconic British seaside town. With over 40 of the biggest names in independent horror fiction, visitors travelled from across the UK, Europe and the US to attend, and the Weston locals showed up in force, leaving with arms full of books.

The more seasoned visitors came equipped: the big yellow suitcase brought by one savvy reader for his books attracted envy, but alas, it still wasn’t big enough – add 2 tote bags to the suitcase and you get the picture! Armed with a willing partner, and frequent trips back to the car to load up, another reader left with an eye-watering 66 books, but to be fair – 7 of them were for her partner!

During the day, the rules were ripped up and author Q&A sessions were Grab the Mic style, with readers posing their questions to Rob Ulitski, Jasper Bark, MJ Mars, James Lefebure, Joseph Sale and the double act of Lula Von Goth and Lesley A Camphouse. The questions were wild, and the answers were, well – shall we say – illuminating!

It was like the Boxing Day sales when the doors opened, with stunning limited editions, pre-release copies and books only available at conventions, the race was on! The crowds stayed all day, catching up with old friends, meeting new ones and enjoyed an informal gathering with the authors in the beer garden watching the sun set over the coast.

Spunky the Spook made an appearance, photobombing visitors at every opportunity. His attention-seeking held no bounds, he escaped from the confines of the event to go and meet the locals – who liked him so much they followed him ‘home’ to the hotel. There really is no accounting for taste!

With quizzes, an after-event exclusive raffle and a caption competition, raising money for Samaritans Weston Super Mare and North Somerset.
