Hey folks, The Ginger Nuts of Horror is always looking for new ways maximise horror promotion for horror books, horror movies, etc., over and above the good old review medium. So, I came up with this wild idea of a fun way to promote your stuff.
For years, I have said that sometimes the best way to promote your horror book or movie is not to talk about it. I know it sounds like a wild idea, but hear me out.
Everyone is scrambling to promote their book or film. Reviews are plentiful; however, no one can keep up with all the review requests that come in. And sometimes, especially if you listen to the halfwits that seem to propagate on Threads, reviews are worthless, and they never pay any attention to them. Well, colour me hurt!!
But they sort of have a point. I have always thought the best way is for the creator to appear interesting, build up a following on social media, horror promotion websites, etc., and if someone likes what you are saying, then they are more likely to check out your book when you casually mention it in passing rather than trying to smash it into their social media face.
We offer loads of ways to promote your book, which can be found here, but I thought, with this digital age—and it's something I haven't embraced—why don't we try some video stuff and see if that helps in the horror promotion side of things?
Why don't we give it a try? Here are some ideas of what we are looking for.
Horror Book or Horror Movie Trailers
If you have one, send it over, and we will pop it up.
Teasers and Behind-the-Scenes Footage
Not just for film makers. Authors, why don't you give us a tour of your workspace and book shelves, maybe even talk about the music you put on when you write?
Readings:
Read from your new book; it's simple enough.
Or get silly.
How about a video of you doing some skill that isn't related to writing? Show us some juggling, bagpipe playing, dancing, or impersonations of your favourite author. Seriously, if you think people will enjoy watching it, send it over.
As with everything featured on the site, please include all promotional materials, a back cover synopsis, a film synopsis, links to any relevant website, a biography, a profile picture, and any other info you want to add to it.
If this kicks off, I'll try to bring the Ginger Nuts of HorrorYouTube Channel back to life. It was lost after the website was hacked last year, and I don't have access to it.
Video sizes may be too large for email; I think I can receive 50mb files, so send them over via Dropbox or whatever sharing platform thing that you use and pop a link to it in an email to
