Corpse Creek and Fear Farm by Vincent Ralph: Two Frights, One Cursed Town

Corpse Creek and Fear Farm by Vincent Ralph: Two Frights, One Cursed Town

Vincent Ralph closes the Bleak Haven series with a matched pair that shares only a cursed town. Corpse Creek is a supernatural grief-horror; Fear Farm is a haunted-attraction slasher. We review both YA horror titles side by side, and both earn four stars for opposite reasons.

Vincent Ralph on Bleak Haven, Corpse Creek and the Uses of Grief

Vincent Ralph on Bleak Haven, Corpse Creek and the Uses of Grief

Vincent Ralph talks us through Corpse Creek, the grief horror centrepiece of his Bleak Haven series, and the drowned brother who will not stay under. He explains how four YA horror novels rework R.L. Stine’s Fear Street into something darker, and why Fear Farm had to end the whole thing in blood.

Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma review: Schoenbrun delivers slasher nerd nirvana

Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma review: Schoenbrun delivers slasher nerd nirvana

Jane Schoenbrun’s Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is the nerdiest horror film ever made. With Gillian Anderson, Hannah Einbinder, and more slasher trivia than you can shake a split diopter at, this queer horror masterpiece is bloody, beautiful, and utterly compelling.

Big Baby Review: Spider One’s Horror Screenwriter Nightmare

Big Baby Review: Spider One’s Horror Screenwriter Nightmare

Spider One’s Big Baby casts Brandon Lewis as a horror screenwriter who cannot stop listening to the podcast telling him to die. Krsy Fox supplies the film’s genuine tension, and the crying baby mask supplies the axe. Our horror film review looks at why the story inside Adam’s script leaves the whole thing curiously unsatisfying.
