So, what do you need from a horror website? Well that’s easy! You need reviews, you need news and you need articles. That’s it, you have a website. However, Gingernuts of Horror goes way beyond that. It covers horror for all ages with its young blood features posting regular features on middle grade and young adult horror fiction. It covers both independent and traditionally published horror. Not only that it has the What’s on Shudder feature, which is a valuable resource for traversing and choosing what to watch for your evening’s scary viewing. Add to that the up close and personal inner life of a horror fan of a horror fan with the regular feature My life in horror, an excellent series exploring how horror affects us. Part memoir, part review, part critical analysis, the series explores what it means to be a horror fan, what makes us tick. Exploring our fears, the emotion and how we grow as horror fans. This makes Gingernuts of Horror my go to for all things horror.
However, Gingernuts of Horror is more than a website, it’s a community. As a fledgling reviewer, the doors to new reviewers were thrown open giving me a chance to write about a genre I loved. Anxious and just a little bit frightened, Jim was supportive and encouraging, giving this person, who had never really entered into the world of reviews and feature articles, the confidence and encouragement to grow in a safe and embracing space. And in fact this has continued throughout my time on my own website. Knowing that I am a great fan of a particular author’s work, Jim readily reached out to join him in interviewing him about the new film the author had released. Which for me, was such a delight.
Not only that, Jim has been an ardent supporter of my own website, regularly supporting me by increasing the views for posts, proving it’s not only the big things that matter but its that care and attention to the little things that make all the difference. But! It’s not just me, it’s loads of others too. I don’t know what else that I can say, but as you can see, Gingernuts of Horror is more than just news, reviews and articles. More than a place to go to for all things horror, it’s become my big online family. Mark Davis (www.fantasybooknerd.com)

Jim "The Don" Mcleod has been reading horror for over 35 years, and reviewing horror for over 16 years. When he is not spending his time promoting the horror genre, he is either annoying his family or mucking about with his two dogs Casper and Molly.
