Could the New Halloween TV Show Be Fast-Tracked for a 2025 Release?
It’s no secret that Miramax are producing a new Halloween TV show. Even though recent movies have been disappointing, it seems that showrunners are looking to explore the franchise further, taking a new approach. With plans to return to the roots of the original Halloween, it could breathe new life into the character’s story arc.
The Influence of the Original Halloween on Horror
Michael Myers was only a young boy when he killed his sister on Halloween night. He then spent 15 years in a mental institution, before launching his escape in 1978 and embarking on a killing spree to try and find his way back home. This is the plot of the timeless movie that puts fear into the hearts of even the most dedicated horror fans.
The movie also inspired The Shape character in the Dead By Daylight game. Of course, it’s important to know that the horror genre as a whole has also been explored numerous times, in gaming especially. The Left 4 Dead series, which has different zombie characters and high-level bosses that players need to defeat, is one example, as well as Buzz Bingo with their Halloween Horrors slot, or Book of Halloween. The inspiration from Halloween is clear in these games’ spooky journeys, full of symbols like pumpkins, ghouls, and ghosts, and a variety of Halloween-themed bonuses.
Movies like Halloween, Dawn of the Dead, and Friday 13th have clearly all been influential in creating games like this, and have helped cement the legacy of classic horror and what it’s all about. Horror games and movies tend to be especially popular during Halloween too, and with it being just around the corner, it’s exciting to think that another Michael Myers story could be happening sooner than we think.
Could We Be Getting A New Halloween TV Series in 2025?
Recent developments have shown that Miramax is going to be producing the new Halloween TV show. Halloween Ends and Halloween Kills scored low reviews with fans, but there is hope that this show could be going back to basics, telling the story of the original horror. Marc Hedwig is the head of Miramax’s television department, and he’s released a statement saying that they are fast-tracking the show, with the release being a priority for them.
They are working with numerous talented people, and they are also hopeful that the creative team will be locked down soon. This could indicate that the show could be coming out as soon as next year, as they clearly have the concept ready, they just need the right team to drive it home.
John Carpenter’s Halloween is a true classic and his work will be hard to live up to, but fans have been open to adaptations in the past. One would be Rob Zombie’s Halloween, which scored well with new and seasoned horror fans across the world.
Although we don’t fully know if the TV show is in the works for 2025, it seems that things are moving at a fast pace, and this is promising news for horror fans.
