Dead Men’s Laughter #1 – A horror/heist one-shot comic.

An introduction by Will O’Mullane:

“Dead Men’s Laughter” is a new crime / horror mash-up comic book one-shot (the Kickstarter is launching on February 28th: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/willomullane/dead-mens-laughter-a-horror-heist-one-shot-comic), with stunning art by artist Marco Perugini (Cuddles, Demon City, Heavy Metal), and lettering by editor and Disconauts writer Jonathan Stevenson, written by yours truly.

We hope you enjoy this short teaser into the murky, secret-laden world of Russell and Harry – two chancers who made a fatal mistake years ago, and one which will unravel in their present and twilight years.

But, as you’ll see, not all is as it seems…

In the story, there’s significant details contained in the flashback sequences.

Marco, for the flashbacks to stand out, added a haze background that you’ll see as you read the story in each panel where a flashback appears. It’s subtle but something uniquely comics. He stripped back the colours, too, adding to the feeling that we were stepping back in time.

Marco really excelled at a moodiness and style that really fit the tone of a ruminative exploration of a crime long past. He was the perfect fit for the comic, and enriched the whole experience. I’d long been a fan of Marco’s, and worked with him on a very short story on one of my past anthologies, so I knew he’d bring a real quality to the project.

Plus, he can draw the hell out of horrific imagery. So, that’s a real plus!

Please do visit our Kickstarter page for more information and updates on the comic. If you like the look of it, I’d really appreciate it if you shared the page on launch.
