Once More Round the Sun, Dave Musson’s first full story collection

Once More Round the Sun by Dave Musson

Coming Tuesday 13 August: Dave Musson’s first full story collection, Once More Round the Sun

“Musson’s collection is quick to read, hard to put down, and will live rent-free in your head once you’ve finished it. Once More Round the Sun isn’t just good, it’s damned right compelling.”
Caitlin Marceau, award-winning author of This Is Where We Talk Things Out

“You may know him for his love of all things Stephen King, but goddamn, don’t sleep on Dave Musson the writer. Once More Round the Sun is a deft card trick of a collection, flitting from horror to heart-felt to humour and back again. His voice sings, blinds with its brilliance, then stabs. Consider me a fan.”
Spencer Hamilton, author of The Fear and Welcome to Smileyland

“Genuinely unsettling weird Albion folk horror delivered with a fiendish twinkle in the eye”
Garth Jones, author of Home Brewed, Vampire Bullets

THIS AUGUST, UK horror author and YouTuber Dave Musson is inviting you to visit a creepy town of his own making, and to stay for a while to hear some of its weird and wonderful stories.

Once More Round the Sun is Musson’s first full collection of short stories and features 13 dark tales set in the fictional Warwickshire town of Kingsworth – one from each month of the year, plus a bonus piece for one last scare.

Horror fans might know Dave as the author of 2023’s Tiny Tales of Terror mini collections of flash fiction and 2002’s The Ultimate Stephen King Quiz Book, as well as the host of the Dave Reads King YouTube channel, the accompanying Constant Writers podcast.

Across the stories gathered in this new collection, readers can get stuck into a smorgasbord or short horror stories. Whether it’s the mystery of the supernatural podcaster who vanished without a trace, the tragic tale of the local girl who got lost in the woods one Halloween, or the horrible fate that was waiting for a widow who just wanted to visit her husband’s grave, there’s more to Dave’s town of Kingsworth than meets the eye. Oh, and what exactly happened to all those preschoolers that chilly afternoon?

Speaking about the collection, Dave said:

“The sleepy Warwickshire town of Kingsworth in the middle of England is, without doubt, a nice place to visit. There’s a castle, great schools, and lots of green space to enjoy.

“But, like most nice places to visit, if you scratch the surface, you’ll find something a little darker. You know the kind of thing; unsettling stories that locals love to tell outsiders with the sole purpose of getting under their skin. Kingsworth is no different…there’s plenty to discover among its streets and homes that the local tourist board wouldn’t want you to hear about. But I’d certainly love to show you some of the skeletons in this town’s closet!”

Kingsworth is based loosely on Dave’s hometown of Kenilworth and the stories gathered in Once More Round the Sun are just the start; there are already lots more planned for 2025 and beyond.

Once More Round the Sun, by Dave Musson, will be available in paperback and ebook on Tuesday 13 August wherever books are sold. Find out more about Dave at davemussonauthor.com.

Dave Musson

This tired-looking chap is Dave Musson, an indie author from the UK. Before he had kids, his beard didn’t have any white hairs in it -make of that what you will!

Dave is a glasses-wearing, bearded human being from the middle of England who likes heavy music with loud guitars, watching movies, and reading and writing creepy stories. He has more hobbies than he should really have time for; playing in a band, hosting a bunch of podcasts, writing, and running a Stephen King-themed YouTube channel. Oh, and he also wrote and published The Ultimate Stephen King Quiz Book in 2022.

Dave lives at home with his wife, sons, and annoying dog. He made his debut as a published fiction writer in 2021’s Welcome to the Funhouse, from Blood Rites. He was also a finalist in the Bellingham Review’s 2022 Tobias Wolff Prize for Fiction, and has been published in Psychotoxin PressThe Reach, and on The Horror Tree.
