Hansel & Gretel meet The Texas Chainsaw Massacre!
A new series of horror graphic novels to keep you awake at night!
The Long Death is the 1st Kickstarter release in the Forgotten Folklore series of horror comics, only preceded by The Goblet at the Black Oak, which was originally released on his website Ham-Fisted Tales. These unconnected, short graphic novels embrace a classic form of storytelling where characters are tested on their morals, and pay for the consequences of their actions. These tales will be told through a visual landscape inspired by the Universal horror of the 30’s, as well as Hammer Films, and the Roger Corman production of Edgar Allen Poe films of the 60’
A Town in Ruin from Plague!
Iris and Victor find each other at a moment when they need companionship the most. Their parents have died, and the town they live in is full of ghosts of the past. There is nothing left for them but their newly forged friendship.
Horrifying Secrets in the Woods!
They leave for the city of West Arcanshire, where Iris has an aunt who may take them in. Not long after, they find trouble when Victor leaves the path in search of food. The smell of stew attracts him to a farmhouse hidden deep in the woods which belongs to The Old Crone and her son The Butcher. The two children learn that what cooks in the kitchen is not meant for them, rather they are meant for it.
Spirits of Vengeance!
The land has gone sour with death as plague has infested town after town. Where dark clouds gather, so does the hopeful spirit of children, but as the corruption of the adult world comes to a reckoning, it is a spirit that will quickly turn to revenge.
The Long Death is a Forgotten Folklore of poison apples, bloody cleavers, unscrupulous elites, and a young friendship born for retribution.

The Long Death Preview Pages
This book is full of wonderfully crafted pages by artist Anna Wieszczyk. The following is just a taste of the dazzling design, and the horror & fantasy sequential art on the pages of The Long Death.
The Long Death Creators
Anna Wieszczyk – Artist
Anna Wieszczyk is a Polish-born author and illustrator of books such as Godkiller, Home, Interesting Drug, Lucid, & Mary Shelley’s School for Monsters. She has also been featured in many comic anthologies, Popgun vol. 4 and Spera, and is very active within the budding comics zine scene in Poland.
Anna is responsible for creating the dreamy atmosphere in The Long Death, and her art is a character in itself. John and Anna originally met when he was looking for artists for his crime graphic novel Getting Back to Normal, but she had other obligations. When he started following her online he could not get enough of her style. The Long Death was actually immensely inspired by her art, and John began writing the story in hopes that she would agree to work on it. And now here we are.
John Kratky – Writer
I have been independently releasing comics for the past 20 years, starting out with a series of webcomics before my first print release with the series Home Free. The genres I love to write most are horror and crime. The Long Death is my first campaign on Kickstarter for a horror comic after successfully funding 6 previous campaigns for crime comics. Why do I love these two genres so much? The most simple answer would be the exploration of the darker side of humans really compels me and there are no two genres to better do that with than horror and crime. Horror was my first love, and it continues to be a driving force within my interests in everything entertainment. For me, there is just something so satisfying in writing a story where nobody comes out unscathed. Because that is life, and I want that reflected in my art.
Eduardo Camacho – Letterer
Eduardo Camacho has over 8 years of experience in comic lettering and graphic design, with a core interest in typography. He’s also worked on some type design and custom fonts. He has lettered comics such as Oasis by Alex Wills, the four volumes of Liberty: Deception from Travis Vengroff, and a wide variety of comics by John Kratky including Tales of Hammerfist, Getting Back To Normal, and the Home Free series.
