The Nightmares of Finnegan Quick By Larry Hayes
By night, Finn has horrible nightmares. By day, they come TRUE!
Finnegan Quick is haunted by nightmares—so terrifying that he’s afraid to fall asleep. Worse still, Finn’s dreams don’t just stay in his head—they alter the waking world too. He’s already lost his mum, dad, dog, and even his shadow. Now, they’re coming for his gran, the only family he has left. Then, a mysterious girl begins appearing in his dreams, helping Finn fight the creatures in his nightly battles. But on the first day of the new school term, she shows up in real life, in the lunch queue!
Cass tells Finn she’s here to solve the mystery of his missing parents. Along with Finn’s geeky best friend, Squid, they journey through the nightmare world, battling goblins, ghosts, and zombies. Finn, Cass, and Squid make a sharp-witted trio, but even together, can they defeat the creatures of the night? To save the people he loves most, Finnegan Quick must finally learn the lesson his gran has taught him all his life: he must face his fears—or be destroyed by them.
A creepily brilliant and chilling read for fans of Jennifer Killick, Skulduggery Pleasant and other horror adventures.
“I absolutely loved this book! The level of horror is perfect for ten plus readers who want something genuinely chilling and a little bit gory. And it’s balanced so well with touches of humour that feel really natural coming from such relatable and endearing characters. The plot moves at just the right pace and kept me reading from start to finish in one go. It was such a fun read, and I will be eagerly awaiting the sequel.” Jennifer Killick

About Larry Hayes
Larry Hayes writes both comedy and horror stories for children. He loves ghosts and the unexplained and has also performed stand-up comedy. His debut novel, How to Survive Without Grown-Ups, launched the How to Survive series. He is also the author of the comedy non-fiction Kid Boss series.
Inspiration for this book came from spending a few nights alone in an old empty house in Connemara, Ireland. A dream about a mouse being attacked followed by the discovery of a dead mouse the next morning sparked the main concept behind the book: What if your dreams, and nightmares, came true?

He also works in fund management and serves as a governor for a primary school federation. On Fridays, he homeschools his two children, letting them choose what to study.
