COMPETITION – DARKNESS IN THE FIELDS: MIDSUMMER PRESENTS A CHANCE TO WIN TWO FULL EVENT PASSES FOR FIVE DAYS OF FOLK HORROR ACTIVITIES!

With folk horror undergoing a renaissance in 2023, DARKNESS IN THE FIELDS is proud to present MIDSUMMER, offering up five days of talks, interviews and writing workshops with some of the finest names in the fields.

The MIDSUMMER online festival starts on Wednesday 21^st June with an interview with Lucie McKnight Hardy (Dead Relatives, Water Shall Refuse Them) before Kit Whitfield (All the Hollow of the Sky, In the Heart of Hidden Things) explores the world of analog horror. Thursday 22^nd June sees a double-header of interviews, with Kerry Hadley Pryce (The Black Country, God’s Country) alongside Bafta-winning director Mark Jenkin (Enys Men, Bait) before Friday 23^rd seeing Robert Edgar discussing Thomas Hardy and the Folk Horror Tradition before a closing interview with Francine Toon (Pine).

The weekend of the 24^th and 25^th June sees two days of folk horror writing workshops, featuring sessions with Coy Hall (Grimoire of the Four Imposters), Lynda E Rucker (Now It’s Dark), E Saxey (Unquiet) and Steve Toase (To Drown in Dark Water). And with tickets available for the full five days, the weekend workshop sessions and even individual day passes, you can select just the right activities for you!
