In Gods of the New Age, love is the resource and the paperwork is the predator.

Peter Neal’s Gods of the New Age series is back in new editions. Second editions of Womb of Shadows, Book One, and The Frequency, Book Two, went live on 10 September 2026. Both books now share matching Kindle, paperback and hardcover releases.

Womb of Shadows follows Dr Evelyn Hart and her husband, Marcus Hart. He runs a secret weapons lab buried under Virginia. One night, he takes three drops of blood from their sleeping daughter, Nunnally. By morning, a boy stands inside the glass. The boy learns kindness from a young lab worker. The people meant to fear him start to feel safe around him instead. Leaving him gets harder than staying. Even the wish to help him can turn into part of the trap.

The Frequency picks up with the boy loose. He walks north through Virginia. He carries a small creature he will not put down. Every meal he is given, every warm room, brings him closer to hurting whoever gave it. Neal calls it a series where the dread stays quiet. The monsters, he says, are made of love. A third novel, The Firmament, has no date yet.

Both books are out now in Kindle, paperback and hardcover.

The programme wants everything closeness makes and none of the closeness itself. Nearly everyone who dies in these books dies of kindness, not malice. The most dangerous sentence a monster can produce is never a threat. It is a form, filled in correctly, by somebody who believed they were only doing their job.
